Since 2020, when we first joined Twitter (@LawPawCalendar), we’ve been filling your social media timelines with incredible pictures of pets in legal-themed settings, allowing people to vote for their favourites, then publishing a calendar featuring all these amazing pictures.

Each year we follow the same process:

1. In September/October, we put out a call for photos on social media.
2. The legal community (anybody with even a tenuous link to law) respond in their droves, sending in photos of their pets in all manner of cute/hilarious/amazing poses.
3. We collate the photos into twelve separate groups, one for each month.
4. Over a period of roughly two weeks (normally just weekdays), we run polls where everyone can vote for their favourite. Depending on number of entries, there are often two stages of voting, a semi-final of two groups running during the day, and in the evening a final where you can vote between the winners of each group.
5. Once the votes have completed, we design and publish a calendar, where the main photo for a particular month is the winner of the vote, but where all pets submitted by their owners are guaranteed to feature.
6. This calendar is then sold online, through the Billable Hour shop, as part of their annual fundraising efforts, where money is raised for Save The Children.

In recent years, the social media landscape has changed quite a bit (thanks, Elon!), resulting in the legal community now being spread out across a number of platforms. To better cope with this, for the 2026 calendar we will still post on our existing socials (Twitter and BlueSky), but our main hub of operations will be this blog, and hopefully we’ll run the polls directly from this site as well.
